N. Lavada Austin, Ph.D
Dr. N. Lavada Austin graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1982 with a B.A. Degree in Psychology. She went on to earn a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, one of the top ten psychology programs in the country during her attendance (where she also minored in Psychological Assessment and Testing). As a licensed psychologist, she has been in private practice for over 28 years and served as a licensing examiner for California. In addition to running a private practice, Dr. Austin has worked as a staff psychologist at two UC campuses (Irvine and Riverside); she oversaw all mental health services during her tenure at the Watts Health Foundation; she was Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Cal Poly Pomona University for 10 years; and she was the only Ombuds at Cal Poly Pomona for over 12 years, providing services to students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, and university affiliates. I served as faculty and coordinator of mental health services at two community colleges, and she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the UC, the California States, and USC. I have publications in Psychology, have presented at professional conferences, and have served as a trainer and consultant, for example, as an expert witness for the courts and Child Protective Services and working for the NFL.
